The Strachan Gate – Main Entrance to The Bentway
It is hard to believe that summer has come and gone! We hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine while creating lots of summertime memories!
One event that sure left a lasting impression was The Bentway Block Party held on August 25th. This fun-filled day with live musicians, workshops, selfie stations and much more was to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 with the Opening of the Strachan Gate.
The Strachan Gate serves as the main entrance to The Bentway, directly from Strachan Avenue, and doubles as an intimate performance space which can accommodate approximately 250 people. DPM is proud to have designed the electrical layout for this phase of The Bentway.
The highlight of many people’s camera rolls that day was the giant 26-foot-tall gold giraffe, named Kendra, created by Gensler Design. When people were not snapping selfies, they were busy jamming to the many amazing performances that throughout the day.
The Bentway was an integral space to many Torontonians and tourists this summer as they hosted many different events, such as the Sunday Socials, the Dîner en Blanc and provided a new space for people of all ages to enjoy.
We look forward to a new season of programming at The Bentway and enjoying this unique urban space.
