The Nanny Angel Network (NAN)
DPM is proud to be sponsoring the upcoming October event “Angels and Heroes and Bears Oh My!” for the Nanny Angel Network.
This organization hits close to home as they provide free in-home and virtual childcare support to moms with cancer and their kids.
Moms with cancer often choose their children’s well-being and care over their own treatment and health care. The Nanny Angle Network provide the support they need for their children so they can focus on their health. They know that when kids are given the tools and coping strategies they need during their mom’s illness, they have a chance to thrive and grow up as emotionally healthy adults.
Their amazing volunteers include teachers, nurses, ECEs, university students, and camp counsellors. Most important, they are giving, caring, empathetic individuals who want to provide this support during a difficult time. Most of NAN’s volunteers have a personal connection with cancer and want to contribute to the healthy development of a child.
Below is a list of their amazing programs
- The Nanny Angel Network exists to support moms with cancer and their kids completely free of charge. All support programs are Child Life informed.
- Moms are comforted knowing their kids are in safe, caring hands, which helps reduce their stress and gives them the time to rest, go to appointments, or simply have a few hours to themselves.
- The Nanny Angel volunteer in-home program provides 4 hours of support for kids every week, which means volunteers engage them in age-appropriate activities so they can better understand their mom’s cancer journey.
- When the pandemic hit, they went virtual and now offer a host of virtual programs that include Virtual Homework Club, Virtual Fun in a Box, Virtual Camp in a Box, Virtual Mom Cancer Support Group, as well as our Meal Support Program.
