Women Connected Conference 2019 – Women to the Power of X
We hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing long weekend! It is always exciting when the Victoria Day weekend rolls around, as that means summer is just around the corner.
Another event for the staff at DPM that marks the beginning of the warmer weather is the annual EDA (Electricity Distributors Association), Women Connected Conference. Now in its seventh year, Women Connected is the key event focusing on the personal and professional development of women in the electricity sector.
This year, DPM sent three of its staff members, our HR Supervisor Stephanie, Project Supervisor Azadeh, as well as our Marketing Coordinator Alicia.
The program covered was insightful, empowering and extremely relevant. The day-long event brought inspiring speakers such as Margaret Kenequanash, CEO of Wataynikaneyap who wove her own personal stories through a message of women owning their leadership potential in a male-dominated industry. The attendees were guided through a grounding mediation by Laurisa Dill from the Mindfulness Clinic after she shared some amazing tips and groundbreaking studies. There were stimulating panel discussions, especially around the importance of mentorship and women stepping into roles that tend to be male-dominated.
This event was even greater for the DPM staff this year, as Alicia is representing DPM on the EDA’s Commercial Members Steering Committee. After discussing the event at the inaugural meeting, it was wonderful to see it turn out to be such a success.
Participating in events like these and having our employees join industry committees help solidify our Core 4, that we want to encompass every aspect of our company.
DPM and its staff are committed to growth, as it is in our DNA. This growth pertains to everything from our company size, to personal growth, to ever-expanding our knowledge so we have all the tools in our arsenal to not only succeed as a company but to help our clients the best way possible.
We look forward to continuing our growth with the help of our clients as well as other regulatory boards and committees.
